About Marcus...
Marcus Sturrock is an accomplished Australian musician whose journey began at age 14, experimenting with his father's record player and a Minimoog synthesizer. His passion for music led him to create a home studio at 19, where he produced his first albums, including the highly successful "Moods of the Didgeridoo," which sold over 10,000 copies as an independent release.
Sturrock's career spans performances at major Australian folk and music festivals, including Woodford Folk Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, and Tamworth Country Music Festival. He has headlined events like the Saint Albans Folk Festival and shared stages with renowned artists such as John Butler Trio, Wendy Matthews, and members of The Angels and Rose Tattoo.
With 13 albums to his name, Sturrock's music has been featured on ABC Radio National's "The Daily Planet" and "The Weekend Planet". His repertoire includes original compositions, traditional pieces, and covers, reflecting diverse musical influences. After initial success as an independent artist, he signed with Roustabout/Larrikin Records.
Known for his intricate guitar work, Sturrock incorporates vocal scatting, harmonizing with his guitar notes, and pioneering guitar body percussion techniques. His performances often include storytelling, drawing from experiences gained during his world concert tours. Sturrock's multifaceted career also encompasses audio engineering, lecturing, and running his own recording studio, Big Ears Recording Studio.
