About Sakura...
Sakura Fisher is a young, aspiring artist. Tasmanian born of Japanese heritage, she is inspired by the natural beauty of Tasmania’s wildlife and the rich culture of Japan.
She enjoys creating art depicting lush landscapes and striking animals using a variety of mediums including acrylic paints, pastels, watercolour paints, gouache, and pencil, experimenting with different styles and techniques.
Sakura is very involved in the art community. She is eager to meet inspiring artists and has collaborated with Josh Foley during his exhibition, “Calculating Infinity” in 2020.
Sakura retains connections at her former school, Invermay Primary, as a judge for the Ivan Neville Art Gallery. She has also been part of the QVMAG children’s art exhibitions, ArtStart, working as a judge, curator, mentor, and as well as contributing as an artist.
Sakura has used her artworks and creative abilities to form a small business selling her work as cards at the Tasmanian Artisan Shop. Sakura is currently studying at Launceston Church Grammar school on an art scholarship and is enthusiastic to establish herself as a professional Tasmanian artist.
