Snéhi Jarvis is an emerging artist, completing a Bachelor Fine Arts (1st class Honors) in November 2023, winning the Sawtooth ARI prize. She is a musician, a classical singer and composer, attributes which allows her to follow a passion for experimentation, since art and music have similar processes. She found art whilst becoming visually impaired, retiring from a working life in health sciences and education. Her commitment is to making ecological art, with her artworks able to be returned to the Earth as biological nutrients. She works with pastels, egg tempera and watercolor paints that she makes by processing raw ochre, which she applies to either cold pressed cotton rag paper or traditional wood supports prepared with handmade gesso.
